I have taken it upon myself to disseminate information resources to aid us all in becoming more personally informed about the extent of the impact that these trying times may produce, both now and in years to come for US citizens and those from around the world. I urge everybody to be cautious of jumping a band-wagon of un-informed jingoism by launching, what may become, a full scale and immediate war. The consequences of initiating such a war are entirely outside anybody's ability to predict, though past history provides insight into possible outcomes.

     There are already 139 wars being fought in the world today, perhaps with the resources of this great Nation we could devise and implement a strategy that would bring about a swift resolution to this conflict without the expenditure of tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of human lives; the bankruptcy of the US Social Security system, the further aggravation and promised retaliation of "rogue" states and organizations, (like the Taliban), that may or may not have had involvement in this tragedy, and the potential of a global economic collapse.

     I prophesize nothing. I attempt only to provide links to sources of information that I personally believe will assist people in feeling empowered to effect POSITIVE change through whatever profession they may be associated with. Most important to me personally is that Educational Institutions understand the importance of providing tools for children to emotionally handle these occurrences and also to consider historical US reactions to past events of this kind.

Please, for the sake of all humanity, may we be conscious of our own.

THE TOWER (War)

I saw a lofty tower extending from earth to heaven; its golden crowned summit reached beyond the clouds. All round it black night reigned and thunder rumbled. Suddenly the heavens opened, a thunder-clap shook the whole earth, and lightning struck the summit of the tower and felled the golden crown. A tongue of fire shot from heaven and the whole tower became filled with fire and smoke. Then I beheld the builders of the tower fall headlong to the ground.

"The building of the tower was begun by the disciples of the great Master in order to have a constant reminder of the Master's teaching that the true tower must be built in one's own soul, that in the tower built by hands there can be no mysteries, that no one can ascend to Heaven by treading stone steps.

"The tower should warn the people not to believe in it. It should serve as a reminder of the inner Temple and as a protection against the outer; it should be as a lighthouse, in a dangerous place where men have often been wrecked and where ships should not go.

--------P. D. Ouspensky (1878-1947) was a Russian mathematician and mystical philosopher who became the student of George Gurdjieff in Moscow in 1915. The Symbolism of the Tarot was published in Russia in 1913, then in 1931 was incorporated in a slightly modified form into the larger work A New Model of the Universe.

Ouspensky's analysis of the Tarot is based on the notion, put forward by the French occultist Paul Christian, that the Tarot originated in Egypt, where the trumps were preserved in a pillared gallery beneath the Sphinx in two parallel rows of eleven trumps. By trying to force his interpretation of the trumps to accommodate this fanciful parallel structure, Ouspensky strains the meanings of the cards. His interpretations are interesting and insightful, but should not be accepted as the only possible analysis of the trumps, nor even as the best analysis.

THE TOWER (war)

The tower is ambiguous: is it a fortress or a prison? Indeed there is little difference, for we easily may become prisoners of our own defenses.

The tower is the World Axis, the center of being, and the divine illumination has struck at its core, demolishing it, but igniting in its depths the spark of new life. The falling figures, representing head and heart (reason and emotion), were imprisoned in the tower's dogma and defenses. Though now released, before they can be reborn they must "come back to the earth" of the body and must be submerged in the Abyssal waters of the unconscious, which have been quickened by the lightning. The manna from heaven, falling around them, will sustain them through the trials of this transformation.
